In 2013, Columbia River Realty opened its doors in downtown Washougal with seven brokers. Since then, we’ve moved to a larger office suite in Washougal Town Square and now have 24 well-trained brokers and staff to help with the real estate needs of those in our community.

Prior to opening Columbia River Realty, I was a broker with Coldwell Banker in Camas. When that brokerage closed, I moved to a brokerage in Vancouver and I found it difficult to help my clients in the Camas-Washougal area because there wasn’t an office to hold meetings and write offers.

I had been thinking about opening a brokerage for quite some time and seven of us left the brokerage we were with to start Columbia River Realty. We worked from home for two months and our first sales meeting was at the Washougal Safeway deli and later at the location where Wild Flour Café is now located. We had so much fun discussing the market, sharing our hopes for the future, and celebrating our successes.

I remember one day when myself and a few brokers were walking down Main Street with our friends from Chicago Title and Guild Mortgage. We were trying to think of a name for our new brokerage and Paula Nirschl with Guild Mortgage suggested “Columbia River Realty.” What a great name!

Now we have a large group of brokers who are committed to taking care of our clients and the community, and we’re able to recruit and train more brokers.
