LARGEST BROKERAGE IN WASHOUGAL ANNOUNCES MOVE TO NEW OFFICE SPACE AND UPCOMING OPEN HOUSE
Columbia River Realty owner, Charline Wright, has deep roots in Washougal
WASHOUGAL, WA (August 14, 2016) - Columbia River Realty recently moved to a new office suite in Washougal Town Square to accommodate rapid growth. Since opening in 2013, the brokerage has grown from seven to 22 full-time brokers and two part-time staff members. The public is invited to attend a celebratory open house on September 12 from 2-6pm where cookies and beverages will be served.
The new office suite #222 overlooks Reflection Plaza in downtown Washougal and is 800 sq. ft. larger than the brokerage’s previous office just down the hall at Washougal Town Square. The loft-style space offers 28 desks for brokers and three conference rooms. “Moving to a larger space will allow us to recruit and train more brokers and better serve our community,” says owner and principal broker, Charline Wright.
Wright is a 30-year resident of Clark County and lives on a 90-acre farm 5 miles east of Washougal in the Gorge National Scenic Area. “The farm has been in our family for four generations and was purchased by my husband Ron’s great-great grandfather, Stephen Wright Jr.,” says Wright. “Stephen applied for the homestead in 1870 and we still have the original land grand signed by President Ulysses S. Grant in 1877.”
The land grant hangs in one of the new conference rooms, all which are named after notable settlers including Joseph Durgan, Stephen Wright Jr., and Louisa Wright who is also a distant relative of the owner. “Louisa was one of the first doctors and the first female doctor in the Camas-Washougal area. I’m a female business owner in an industry where there aren’t many female broker-owners, so I feel connected to her and love that she was a feminist and a pioneer in the truest since of the word.”
Wright attracts brokers and staff who also feel a connection to the community. Jessica Dudley worked for well-known brands like Microsoft and Starbucks before providing marketing support to the brokerage. “I was looking for a way to give back to my hometown community, says Dudley. “Charline genuinely cares about making Washougal a better place to live, and that means more to me than a paycheck from a company I’m not emotionally connected to.”
This September, the brokerage will sponsor Dinner in White, which benefits the Washougal Library. For the past three years, the brokerage has sponsored the popular Festival of Trees, which benefits schools in the Washougal School District. “As a brokerage, it makes sense for us to invest in schools. One of the first questions we’re asked by potential buyers is, ‘What are the schools like here?’ Better schools attract more homeowners to the area.”
“My family has loved living here for hundreds of years, and as a local business owner, I’m honored to help make Washougal a desirable place to live for future generations. I love Washougal, and I love helping young adults that I’ve watched grow up buy their first home, or help new residents get to know our community. Columbia River Realty will be the legacy that that I leave behind.”
