Cool down this summer with Columbia River Realty’s favorite iced coffee drinks from local businesses. Every business offers something truly unique!

OURBAR

Best Drink: Iced Latte

Most locals know that this bustling corner café serves real food with big flavor and that its community-minded husband-and-wife owners are committed to cooking from scratch and supporting local farmers.

But people are often surprised when we tell them that OurBar’s coffee selection is just as good as their homemade bacon cheddar biscuit.

One of our staffers went so far as to say it’s the best coffee in Clark County after ordering a simple iced latte with her pork belly and greens.

She also convinced us to join her on a return trip for Affogato: a scoop of homemade vanilla bean ice cream drowned in a shot of Rwandan Kibirizi.

OurBar recently announced their new partnership with Terrain Coffee Project and switched their drip and espresso completely over to fair-trade coffee. Co-owner, Kevin Credelle, says the project “makes intentional connections with small farmers in order to build relationships that benefit the farmers, their families, and their communities.”

Cheers to that!

OUTLAW COFFEE COMPANY

Best Drink: Jeep Cherokee

Outlaw Coffee Company claims to be “Slinging the hottest shots in town,” but today, we wanted to know more about their frozen blended drinks.

Owner Mallorie Henker says the stand’s most popular menu item is a frozen drink named “Jeep Cherokee,” which combines her husband’s favorite ingredients: real peanut butter with caramel and espresso.

We asked barista, Ashlyn Steigmann, to make the drink for her mom and Columbia River Realty broker, Robin Steigmann. “It’s delicious!” she said.

The Coffee Rebel is another frozen option that blends Oreo mocha with mint and caramel sauce, and the lavender pink lemonade is a great choice for the non-coffee drinker.

Henker opened the pink camo coffee stand in 2014 and says she named Outlaw Coffee Company after her husband’s beloved jeep Cherokee, nicknamed “Outlaw.”

Outlaw is recognized for its fun, country-themed marketing, which includes a logo with the silhouette of a girl wearing cowboy boots and a hat—an ensemble often worn by their sassy yet friendly baristas—and gourmet coffee drinks with fun names like The Revolver and Lucky Horseshoe.

The stand offers monthly specials and swag is available online at outlawcoffee.com.

Outlaw Coffee Company also supports local schools and sponsored 2018 senior grad night. Henker says, “Investing in our schools is investing in our community and everyone wins!”

HAPPY CAMPER COFFEE

Best Drink: Sasquatch Latte

Happy Camper Coffee is located next to the Washougal River Mercantile, 10 miles from the nearest coffee shop - the perfect location for those looking to fuel up before heading to town or going on a nearby outdoor adventure.

The rustic-looking red-stained drive-through is built on the platform of an old camper, but owner, Sativa Huddleston, says that’s not how it got its name.

“Coffee and camping just go hand in hand!” she says.

Sativa designed a red and black buffalo plaid logo and large sign made of metal that she fabricated herself and plans to update a gazebo for outdoor seating; her drinks are equally as creative.

Signature drinks include the Happy Camper Mocha (macadamia nut, cookie dough, and white chocolate), the Birch Tree Mocha (white and dark chocolate), and the Sasquatch Latte (hazelnut and raspberry).

“They’re really known for their kind of crazy sounding drinks,” says Michelle McGrann, Columbia River Realty broker and cousin of the owner. “I didn’t think I’d like the Sasquatch Latte at first but they convinced me to try it, and now it’s my favorite.” .

Angie Tauialo-Jones, who is a broker and Sativa’s sister, prefers coffee-free options like the Italian Cream Soda and Mt. Climber (Rockstar, cream, and flavoring over ice).

WASHOUGAL COFFEE COMPANY

Best Drink:  Stumptown Nitro Cold Brew

“What’s on tap today?” is something we never imagined asking at a coffee shop.

But Washougal Coffee Company—a cozy coffee shop with an industrial Pacific NW vibe—now offers Stumptown Cold Brew and Nitro Cold Brew on tap.

As far as we know, they’re the only place in Washougal with an on-tap offering.

High quality coffee is brewed without heat for 12 hours, bringing out bright and sweet flavors. The addition of nitro produces a smooth brew with low acid and a chocolate finish.

Brokerage owner, Charline Wright, tried the nitro and says, “Wow! It packs a punch and will pick you right up!”

Her sister and broker Cathleen Cooney, adds, “It’s really refreshing on a hot day!”

Broker and President of the Downtown Washougal Association, Heena Dwivedy, was looking for something with a little less zip and enjoyed an iced London Fog with lavender made by manager, McKenzie Hickey.
